Proven. Progressive. Leadership.

As Chairman of the Council, I work to improve the quality of life for all DC residents. I believe in practical government that responsibly delivers services. That is my record. “

Accomplishments

Increased minimum wage

Coordinated first increase in 2014 with Montgomery & Prince Georges Counties; supported additional increase (to $15) in 2016.

Gun Control

Rewrote the District's gun laws after the Heller decision; his revisions have protected our law despite repeated assaults from the NRA.

Effective on important issues

Marriage equality; expanding homeless shelter services; smokefree DC; DC Budget Autonomy; Height Act protection; renewable energy; creation of the District's crime lab.
